New schools programme for the DfES

July, 2003

The Pupil Achievement Tracker

The DfES is ready to launch a new programme developed by leading media house in the UK, Nottingham-based BYG Systems

The Pupil Achievement Tracker (PAT) software will assist teachers across the UK to improve the life chances of all of their pupils. It offers teachers access to check how a child's past and present results compare with those of similar pupils in other schools and predict how they should perform in the future.

Says Joe Bennaton, Operations Director at BYG:

"We are delighted to have the opportunity of working with the DfES again. The new programme is likely to be used by thousands of schools to compare pupil data with national trends and set their own school targets."

The Department is confident that the functionality built into the software will help schools when they are setting their 2004/5 targets.

PAT enables teachers to analyse results on a pupil-by-pupil basis, graph what outcome their work should have and set targets for individual students, classes and departments.
