BYG helps publicans improve efficiency via the Internet
May, 2002
Unique Pub Company Retailers now have a more efficient way of accessing information from Unique following the creation of a new website and extranet by Nottingham-based BYG Systems.
One of the leading media houses in the UK, BYG Systems- working with the management team at Unique has developed 'Unique Online' an extranet, to enable Unique's 3000 Retailers to review products, obtain on-line business support and keep up to date with crucial business information at any time of the day.
Not only does the extranet cut down on paperwork but it also means Retailers know immediately when new products have been introduced or if there are important developments in the Unique group. Most importantly, the site provides information and advice on employment law issues such as working time, minimum wage and tax, where Unique Retailers can access information to help them successfully tackle what are perennial problems for publicans.
One of the most powerful features of the website is the facility for publicans to interrogate the SupplyLine database of branded beers, ciders, lagers and soft drinks. If there are any promotions running on top brands, the website will inform the Retailer when they log on. An additional key feature is the Content Management System, which enables Unique Pubs to maintain the site content themselves. This means the site can be kept up to date without requiring any technical expertise.
As well as making it easier to decide which products to have on the bar, Unique Online helps Retailers to order extra stock well in advance of an event - such as a bank holiday or a football match. Also, licensees can view a contact list of any member of the Unique Pubs team, including the business development manager or sales development representative, through a simple on-line interface.
Giles Thorley, Chief Executive of Unique says:
"With this superb service, our retailers now have exclusive access to business information and support at the touch of a button, unlike any of their competitors. This extranet is a major development in the partnership we have with our licensees and can only serve to improve communications and efficiency. By cutting down on paperwork and time-consuming administration, the extranet will enable our retailers to concentrate on serving their customers and developing their business."
For the future, Unique is planning to incorporate several enhancements into the extranet, including an on-line e-learning package that will relay training to each Retailer. Not only will this offer further cost savings but it will also save valuable time for Retailers. Unique also has plans to launch a new service called Supply-on-Line which will allow their customers to place their orders at any time via a new system accessed from the website.
Dr Yoon Yong, Managing Director at BYG Systems comments: "This solution, which BYG has developed for Unique Pub Company, demonstrates the tremendous benefits which technology can bring to businesses, especially when the solution is developed working closely in partnership with them."
The password-protected Unique Online is accessed via the Unique Pub Company web site www.uniquepubs.com.
